Wasn’t there such a CIVILIAN force in a leading European country back in the ‘30’s and ‘40’s.
The name was a real tongue twister for the majority of Americans, but even internally it was best known by its initials......G.E.S.T.A.P.O

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

"G.E.S.T.A.P.O" was not an acronym but portions of the one-word name Geheimstaatspolizei (secret state police).

Actually, GEheim STAats POlitzei (It translates, more or less to Secret State Police). German structure tends to encourage acromyms.
If there weren't so many Fibbies who still insist on that silly Constitution thing, and demonstrated more loyalty to the Dear Leader, it would have worked out very well.
