Mayoral candidate Jesús Chuy Garcia got the endorsement of the Rev. Jesse Jackson on Monday as both the challenger and Mayor Rahm Emanuel compete for the crucial African-American vote ahead of next months runoff election.
Jackson cited Garcias consistent track record of service including his work with Harold Washington, Chicagos first African-American mayor. Jackson also said his support of President Barack Obama, who has endorsed Emanuel, had no bearing on endorsing Garcia.
This is not about President Obama and me; its about Chuy and Rahm Emanuel. Its about whether theres a plan for reconstruction, said Jackson, who did not directly criticize Emanuel during his remarks.

Rahmbo’s goin’ DOWN....
Well, THAT just ensured The Dancing Don wins again.
“Jesús Chuy Garcia” for mayor.
Yup, keep bringing them in you brilliant leftists...
Chicago is in a commie contest with NYC.
Maybe this is justa shot across the bow of the White Democrat Plantation owners that the Blacks are tired of being ignored and are threatening to bond with the newly favored kids and cause mischief.
This is good news only in that it shames Rep. Luis Gutierrez, who has been clucking lately over amnesty and helping “his people.” His support of Emanuel just put the lie to that grandstanding as so much preening, likely for a future run at the WH.
On the other hand, given Jackson’s history, shoving a few mil his way should put all things right and the exploited black vote back in emanuel’s column.
Yep, Hillary’s Tool is going bye-bye
I remember my dad was traveling on business in Chicago when Jane Byrne was running for re-election in a primary against Bill Daley’s kid and Harold Washington.
He watched a debate from his hotel room that night, and came back saying “you have never heard of this black guy, but I’m telling you, he’s gonna win!”
The hootin’ and hollerin’ by minority crowds convinced him of this very quickly.
