The schools here refuse to celebrate Columbus Day because of all the PC hype of what allegedly happened - man crosses into the unknown with three leaky boats, somewhat akin to blasting off into space at random with only a ham sandwich, all to rape and pillage. Give me a break. Though they refuse to dismiss school for Columbus Day, they always take the following Friday off as an administration day probably because the teacher’s union won’t give up a paid holiday, even on principal. Activism has its limits.
