Netanyahu Shifts Tactics as His Likud Party Appears to Slip in Final Surveys
The New York Times ^ | Friday, March 13, 2015 | Isabel Kershner

Posted on 03/16/2015 4:52:25 AM PDT by Star Traveler

Mr. Netanyahu, who is running for his third consecutive term, and fourth overall, is beginning to confront the very real possibility of a political about-face in Israel.

“If we do not close the gap in the next few days, there is indeed a danger that Tzipi Livni and Bougie Herzog will be the next prime ministers,” Mr. Netanyahu said in an interview on Israel’s Channel 2 News on Thursday night, referring to Mr. Herzog by his nickname.

Political analysts say that the widening gap in the polls could work two ways, infusing the Zionist Union campaign with more momentum or creating a degree of complacency on the left while spurring disenchanted Likud supporters to renew their support for Mr. Netanyahu.

In addition, under Israel’s multiparty system, the winner of the election is not necessarily the leader of the largest party but the party leader who has the best chance of forming a governing coalition that will command at least 61 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, or Parliament. Mr. Netanyahu is generally considered to have more of what he calls “natural partners” for a government. Mr. Herzog would have to get some small and medium-size parties that are hostile to each other to agree to sit together. He insists that, given a chance, his talent for team-building will prove itself.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been working hard to "close the gap" ... as he put it. And we all know that Netanyahu is the best one to lead Israel right now. He can stand up to Obama!

As one who is a strong supporter of Israel, I find it hard to fathom what appears to be the utter stupidity of a near majority of Israelis. Facing the existential threat of an almost nuclear Iran, Netanhayu should be winning by a landslide.

I am very surprised by these recent political developments going on in Israel. You would think that the Israelis would be a lot more center-right considering the dangerous area they are living in.

It actually might be to Netanyahu’s advantage to lose since war is coming to Israel soon. It doesn’t matter who is in power, but being able to blame the Left for it will be good thing.

A lot of Israelis, like a lot of Americans, think peace can be kept by appeasement and deal-making with those who hate them. That, and the usual pocketbook issues.

Yes, indeed ... it is surprising, and disappointing ... since I think Netanyahu is the best one for the job!

If war is inevitable, I'd prefer Israel win.

This thing has Obama's claws all over it. He's got political operatives all over the place out there.

They are attempting to weaken Israel from within. Obama is an ally with Iran.

How can he shift tactics with 2 days left? This election, for me, will tell me whether it is time to head for the mountains or not. 2016 will be 40 years of child sacrifice in Israel. Their God (and mine) did not forgive them when they did it under King Manasseh. One thing that never changes is how He reacts to child sacrifice. The Maya and Inca (and some native American) civilizations are proof in the pudding.

“This thing has Obama’s claws all over it.”..........

There is absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that odumbo and his ilk are players in a foreign election. Cause for charges?

That’s not limited to Israel. The entire world is involved in that.

Obama (Hitler) has his “Obamabot” media stooges trying to do in “Bibi”. I will choose to wait to see the election results from the Israeli people. And....yes....I do believe that Obama (Hitler) has used USA taxpayer dollars to send to his USA minions in Israel....to be used to defeat “Bibi”. Obama should be thrown out-of-office by his “own” Democrat Party vermin!!!

Obama (Hitler), the hater & destroyer of both the USA & Israel!!!

Sorry, don’t work that way, leftist media and leftist historians will always blame the right.

Knowing nobama’s liberal campaigners are busy as bees in this election, is it not likely that any of these polls could be more “push polls” which the US liberals are notorious for and may not actually reflect voters?

Two things on that ...

One is that Netanyahu thinks it is so ...

And then there is the following ...

Final Knesset Jeremy Poll of Polls 2015 – Weekly Average #15/Final Prediction: Zionist Union 25, Likud 22, The Joint (Arab) List 12, Yesh Atid 12, Bayit Yehudi 12, Kulanu 9

Agreed. But for me, Israel is the hub of world society and history.

As for child sacrifice, I could never understand what would make God so mad for Him to allow the Great Tribulation. Now I do.

Actually God has saved up his wrath from the beginning of mankind ... and it’s that “saved up wrath” that he releases once and for all time.

As you can imagine, that’s quite a bit of saved up wrath.

Netanyahu thinks it is so

Always thought that was a good campaign ploy to get out the vote.
