All the civilized nations can do, is try to defend ourselves from this Russian onslaught, and hope that Putin’s North Korean type madness doesn’t lead to him invading us and forcing us to destroy his invading Army.

No one is suggesting fighting a war with Russia on their territory, unless you consider Estonia, Ukraine, etc., Russian territory.

And... This attitude of weakness ENSURES a nuclear war in roughly a generation. Maybe less. It might not be between the US and Russia, but it will likely kill millions of Americans.

Weakness (or, in this case acting weak) guarantees disaster. Or have you learned nothing from history, Mr. Chamberlain?

Russia is no match for what the United States and it’s 27 NATO allies can bring to defend our soil against his invading Army of largely poorly trained, poorly equipped, 1 year draftees, and that some experts think is as little as 250,000 men.

And how many nukes do they have?

It doesn't matter if we have more... they only have to have a sufficient number.

So according to your logic, not heavily arming the Ukraine to kill Russian’s on disputed land is weaknesses.

You’re depending on the Russian’s not to overreact. Given their history, I’m not sure that is very wise.

Do you want Obama to lead us in a major war. We are 18 Trillion in debt. How much do you think this adventure is going to cost

If you think I am a Chamberlain, then your post is silly.

For Russians, the West’s disrespect, threats, bullying and sanctions amount to a demand that Russia conform to the West’s interests.

[snip]

State sovereignty is new to them ...

<><><>

I know. How dare the west expect Russia to respect her neighbors borders?

State sovereignity is apparently so new to them that they don’t seem to realize that it applies to others, not just them.

So suddenly after all theses decades and the collapse of their empire, the Russians want to end it all in nuclear annihilation?

You sure are desperate for the West to surrender in advance to Russia.

You are the one supporting Obama’s weakness, and opposing a Reagan/Cruz reaction to this Russian invasion.

You are more than a Chamberlain, you are a Jane Fonda.

Putin also loved Czarist Russia, it’s not about ideology, it’s power. Even Putin realizes that economic-wise, the Soviet Union sucked.

As does the current version of the Soviet Union....If you think he is a free market capitalist you are mistaken. He is, was, and always will be KGB. The kind of power he craves can ONLY come from dictatorship and he loves the communist system

Nope, pretty sure they don't. But if we were get them good and convinced that we were about to defeat them absolutely, I mean like Rome defeated Carthage so it would never rise again, then they might figure they had nothing to lose and that, if Russia didn't have a future, then neither would the USA.

Would you Jane Fondas get something straight?

No one is invading Russia, no one is attacking Russia, Russia is invading Ukraine, Russia is invading right up to NATO’s borders.

Russia is taking aggressive military actions all over the place and threatening us all, no one is invading Russia.

Quit this Orwellian game that Russia is sitting at home and that we are attacking them.

And no one is stopping Russia right now. So where will they strike next? The Bear is going to have an appetite for more territory soon.

Convince them that we were going to defeat them absolutely? Wouldn't we need to be stopping their invasion of us to do that, and wouldn't that mean that they had invaded us and we were at war?

As far as going nuclear, do you remember that they didn't do that when it made some sense, instead they gave it all up and lost their empire, today they have a population of 142 million to absorb the nuclear exchange.

I wasn't clear that Russia was invading the US. Wow, now that I know that, it all makes sense to me.

Thank you for clearing that up.

The invasion of us as NATO, we are a founding member of our NATO alliance to defend ourselves against Russia.

Yes, that.

Now imagine if Russia had signed up Canada and Mexico into the Warsaw Pact. We might determine that we were a bit encroached upon, and we might roll troops to ensure that our territorial interests were defended. We might even influence the political process or even hijack it entirely to ensure that governments more amenable to our purposes were in place there. It's not like we haven't done that sort of thing in the past, you know.

I'm no particular admirer of the Russians, but neither is there any need for us to 'poke the bear,' as it were.

No you try to see things from the view of Russians and Nazis and the North Vietnamese and Red China and North Korea, and ISIS and the Taliban.

I thought you guys disappeared in the 1980s, but here you are again, in full force. The Russian army is invading right up to NATO’s borders and you say that WE are poking your evil bear.

You must have despised Reagan, and how he freed those nations that you want Russia to conquer again rather than be allowed to join NATO.

By the way, Canada is also part of NATO.
