(MK Yariv) Levin: We Now Have a Mandate, And a Responsibility

"First Published: 3/19/2015, 9:51 AM In an interview with Arutz Sheva, MK Yariv Levin, chairman of the outgoing Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, lauded his party's victory in Tuesday's elections, and said that it finally gave the Likud a clear mandate to rule Israel in the way the party felt it should be ruled." Among the issues the Likud needs to tackle is the “one-sided attitude” of the media and the justice system, said Levin. “There need to be changes in the radical leftist rule that shows itself in so many aspects of Israeli society. We will among other things seek to diffuse the powers of the High Court, the Attorney General, the way judges are chosen, and other basic issues on which a Jewish State is founded.”

Israel's media establishment also needs a shake-up, he said. “The radical left control of the media denies many of Israel's citizens its rightful voice, and deregulating television broadcasts and establishing new media and news outlets will undoubtedly raise the level of media diversity and Jewish identity."

“The responsibility is now ours,” said Levin. “We can govern the country in our own way now, with a right-wing government with a comfortable 67 mandates.”

Excellent interview with Likud MK Yariv Levin. Among other things he says the Likud intends to do with its new mandate:

1) Eliminate the Leftist bias that results in judicial activism, improper activity on the part of the Attorney General and make judges more accountable to the Knesset and the people of Israel

2) Pass the Jewish State Basic Law

3) Increase media diversity to provide for a wide variety of points of view.

If the party can pass this, it can change Israel for the better by removing the stranglehold Israel's unelected leftist oligarchy has upon the country's public life.

This means putting a new government in place as quickly as circumstances allow.

Return to our federal origins, return the states to the senate, and we too can clean up a corrupt judicial system.

What.? No “reaching across the aisle” to compromise with the Left? Calling out the Leftist media bias? The toothless weaklings in our GOP leadership should take lessons from the Israeli Right, instead of the NewYork Times.
