I lived in California for a few years when I was a teenager, while that Brown Clown was governor.

It still boggles my mind to think that moron got elected again...

The Israelis are just now ramping up the world’s largest seawater desalination plant to full capacity. It produces clean water from the sea cheaply and at a scale never before achieved.

Their newest plant (Sorek) is producing 627,000 cubic meters of water daily. By 2016, when additional plants will be running, some 50 percent of the country’s water is expected to come from desalination.

They're producing it for 58 U.S. cents per cubic meter (1,000 liters, or about what one person in Israel uses per week). It only cost $500 million, which came from private investment, and will be recouped in something like 5 years. California could have done that years ago. But no.

Instead, California authorized the issuance of US $9.95 billion in bonds for the High Speed Rail project which is never going to pay for itself. They could have built 18 major water-desalinization plants for that.

Geez, we should give California to Israel.

The money will be used to build desalination plants along the coast.

First off, it’s a HUNDRED BILLION DOLLAR train.

Second, they’re not just building a hundred billion dollar train, they’re building a hundred billion dollar tunnel project to pump more water to LA.

The first phase is two or three 45 foot diameter tunnels that will be about 50 miles long and they’ll pump 100% of the water from the Sacramento River to Tracy.

The second phase is to build a new aqueduct from Tracy to LA to carry all of the water that the current two canals can’t carry.

These people are insane.

Delta Smelt are easy and fun to catch, just the same, they are also easy to cook and eat! Using simple ingredients, you can prep some dishes sure to hold up your strength for the rest of the day.

Step 1: Clean

Scale and gut them for the prep. Heads may be left on.

How does one scale a fish? Hold it down on it's side, rub the back edge of your knife against the grain of the fish. This may take time and can throw about some scales, but it's part of the fun and process!

Gut it by cutting (w knife or scissor) from the bottom of the hill to the small opening just between the small fins located about 2/3s of the way toward the tail, and pulling the head up and downwards. The head and innards come out in a clean sweep, but this one-stepper can take some practice.

Step 2: Pan Fry

With some olive oil to coat the bottom of the shallow pan, drop in some of the Delta Smelt and let each side cook for about 3-5 minutes depending on your heat level and preference.

You can season the fish (before they hit the pan) salt, pepper, garlic powder, lime salt -really, anything you like!

“Stop building billion dollar train boondoggles to make politicians and their friends rich...”

Put that money to use in increasing the water supply such as desalinization plants.

Government spending on desalination plants, rather than private spending?

Moonbeam would get applause if he would cancel his bullet train to nowhere and start building desalination plants to support cities so that farmers can get the water needed to grow their crops. But it will never happen because he is a new age, gaia worshipping, self important A-hole that would prefer we all go back to the horse and buggy pre development era in California.

I’d rather see it done privately but we all know that isn’t going to happen.

Rather than waste taxpayer dollars on trains no one wants or needs I’d rather see the money spent on what they do need.

I’m surprised that the unions can’t even put that notion into his head. Said unions must be stuck on the HSR idea.

Having your name on the boondoggle HSR is just sexier to moonbeam than having it attached to a project that would actually affect the quality of life of the majority of Californians. moonbeam cares not for the people, that’s why he so screwed the freeway system his first time around and is driving industry out this time.

On what they do need? No, that never happens even (and especially) with government spending.

One can imagine how badly he would handle desalination infrastructure. Government micromanagement is disastrous by definition.

Use a fraction of that billion to deport all their illegals and Californians will have plenty of water.

That’s actually a legitimate use of government money. But these days, such money is being used to subvert that law and purpose thereof.

I camped at the YMCA campground as a Boy Scout. Follow the train track north to the bridge. Cross the bridge and go east to the land outcropping. That is the camp ground. The water is deep enough for safe water skiing on the east side of the bridge.

They admit to over 3 million. You can usually double that but how much water do you think those 3 million illegals and their spawn are using? I’ll start conserving water when their all gone. Til then the democrats in Sacramento can KMA!!
