He got Paterno fired as an afterthought to ensure his activities were blown off the front page. Whereas Spanier knew he was out that morning (if not before) and had his spin-doctors prepare a nice feel good statement to distribute to the press, Paterno got the call 10 minutes before the meeting.
Some of you crack me up. So much for due process I guess.
I don’t like Spanier as much as any of you. But that goes to his liberal tendencies, and his over spending (construction) at PSU while continuing to raise tuition at an unsustainable rate.
All that said, if anyone thinks he covered up for JS (a man he barely knew), then they lack basic common sense. Sorry.
