Taylor Swift buys .porn and .adult web domain names

Taylor Swift has bought the web domain names TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult. The addresses are part of a public sale by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The web domain names go on sale to the public on 1 June but some stars and companies are being given the opportunity to buy them ahead of then.

What an extortion racket ICANN has in these new .this, .that, and .theotherthing domains. very time they introduce a new one they rake in tons of blackmail money from businesses who must buy up the new domains to protect their good name.

I know nothing about TS, but I'd guess it was paying protection money to a (the) racket.
Kind'a like paying LifeLock to protect you from ID theft
It's all based on the fear of you being ruined and made to be something you ain't .... and if you ever COULD get to a court to complain ... the question would be ... "Well ... why didn't you protect yourself ..? ... It's your own fault"

I worked for a dot com around 2000. One of my jobs was to buy all the “dot whatever” domain names for our brand including expected common misspellings. The idea was that it would prevent others from hijacking our brand. Interestingly, at the time, “.de” required that you have a brick and mortar presence in Germany or you couldn’t buy the name.
Taylor is doing what any smart female, with a brand that is her name, would do. They will certainly never be used other than to redirect.

Both are just forms of extortion.
