The Israelis are just now ramping up the world’s largest seawater desalination plant to full capacity. It produces clean water from the sea cheaply and at a scale never before achieved.

Their newest plant (Sorek) is producing 627,000 cubic meters of water daily. By 2016, when additional plants will be running, some 50 percent of the country’s water is expected to come from desalination.

They're producing it for 58 U.S. cents per cubic meter (1,000 liters, or about what one person in Israel uses per week). It only cost $500 million, which came from private investment, and will be recouped in something like 5 years. California could have done that years ago. But no.

Instead, California authorized the issuance of US $9.95 billion in bonds for the High Speed Rail project which is never going to pay for itself. They could have built 18 major water-desalinization plants for that.

Geez, we should give California to Israel.

“Geez, we should give California to Israel. “

Instead we gave California to Mexico and other parts of the 3rd world. Soon, the California drought won’t affect any Americans because none will be left in the state.

No, no, no.

You don’t understand.

“Green”, “high speed”, choo-choo trains are imperative for the state’s image above all else. Plus, it “creates jobs”!

Desalination plants are inherently evil boogie monsters and have a negative impact on the environment. They’ll suck up all kinds of cute and cuddly sea creatures in order to provide life giving water...so they’re “evil”.

If this keeps up, we could see a massive "reverse migration" of people out of California as the farmland in the Central Valley dry up and turn into the modern version of the Dust Bowl.

The Carlsbad, CA desalination plant will be providing water by the end of this year. The plant capacity is 50 million gallons per day.

The Huntington Beach, CA desalination plant will be providing water by 2018. The plant capacity is also 50 million gallons per day.

Sacramento is full of idiots and California is full of voters who enable such idiots, but there are pockets of sanity.

There's more already in progress. Fresh water is going into the Dead Sea. In regards to the Dead Sea,...

Ezekiel 47, starting with verse 8.

Zechariah 14, starting with 8.

"Arabah" was a later name, not in the original text. Here's the deal. Destination after the plain (sea of Tiberias): Dead Sea (sea of Sodom), which will eventually be freshwater, and to the ocean.
