Is that possible? An unheated pitot tube on a modern jetliner?

ATC did notice, and diverted other aircraft out of the way. They tried to contact the plane, but there was no response.

The plane had 52,000 air miles and 46,000 cycles (take-offs and landings).
The plane reached 38,000 and had a major failure of the fuselage resulting in a complete decompression and oxygen system failure. The pilot puts the plane into a steep descent to try get to a lower altitude. He looses consciousness quickly though and the plane continues the steep descent until it impacts.
Abduction.

The pitot tubes are heated though. I remember burning my hand on one. I have no idea if the pitot heat has to be manually turned on in the Airbus aircraft. If I remember correctly it was manual I the A-6 and auto on the F/A-18, but its been a while. This is an interesting point for sure.

From the videos it looks like there’s hardly a level spot big enough to land a chopper. Recovery is going to be unbelievably difficult.

You mean 52 million miles, right?

No, it was wonderful. I’d love to fly with her.
I mean fly and listen to her play.

If they were playing cockpit Boeing Boeing with the stews — they may not have been in any distress at all.

I worked for ValueJet for a(very)brief time. They at least had some communications with ATC before the fire damaged control/other systems on-board. Same with the Alaska Airlines MD-80 off the coast of CA. when a jammed/stripped horizontal stabilizer jack-screw caused it to corkscrew into the ocean.
Could be a lot of things, but the non-communication over the period of time it descended seems odd.
Hopefully the FDR/CVR will provide the answers...as it did in AF447.

I hadn’t heard that. I have been hearing how the crash was measured in hundreds of meters. And it was pretty clear from the eye witnesses that it was not falling apart.
