On Wednesday, the Jerusalem Municipality announced it is shelving plans to build 1,500 apartments in the Har Homa neighborhood. Officials gave no explanation for its sudden move. But none was needed.
Obviously the construction of apartments for Jews in Jerusalem was blocked in the hopes of appeasing US President BFirst we need to understand that the administrations hostility has little to do with Israels actions.
As Max Boot explained Wednesday in The Wall Street Journal, the administrations animosity toward Israel is a function of Obamas twin strategic aims, both evident since he entered office: realigning US policy in the Middle East toward Iran and away from its traditional allies Israel and the Sunni Arab states, and ending the USs strategic alliance with Israel.
Over the past six years we have seen how Obama has consistently, but gradually, taken steps to advance these two goals. Toward Iran, he has demonstrated an unflappable determination to accommodate the terrorism supporting, nuclear proliferating, human rights repressing and empire building mullahs.arack Obama.
But is there any reason to believe he can be appeased? Today the White House is issuing condemnations of Israel faster than the UN.
To determine how to handle what is happening, we need to understand the nature of what is happening.

Very good article on what Israel must do with the new reality of US abandonment.
Given the fact that Obama has also abandoned other once-allies in the region, a new coalition of US orphan countries has arisen, and this could be a good thing for the Middle East.
Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, among others, have now aligned against Iran in Yemen. Instead of waiting for the US, they are mobilizing on their own.
Yemen will be a losing proposition for Iran.
Relations between the Saudis, the Egyptians, and Israel have now improved as their interests align against a common threat.
So, Obama’s intent was to isolate Israel, and the outcome is Iran is the one that finds itself isolated.
Iran has a relatively weak air force, the Egypt, Saudi, and UAE coalition together make for a far superior effort in Yemen. Yemen, due to its geography is not a good place for Iran to make a stand. The border of Iraq is. Look for Iran to back off in Yemen.
The border of Iraq and Iran will be the next front, because it is where Iran’s strength cam be brought to bear. Will the new Arab coalition be willing to mobilize in defense of Iraq? Will Iraq’s disfunctional government allow them to help? Once unthinkable, does the new alignment permit Israel to come into play? Will the Iranians decide that the time is now, before Obama leaves office? These are the questions that will be answered soon.
Will Obama seek to bring US military might against our allies who are doing nothing more than cleaning up the mess the boy tyrant has made? And when is the Congress going to stop its cowardice and assume its desperately needed Constitutional prerogatives?
Great post. I think the coalition will be willing to go to Iraq to rid themselves of this threat. Time will tell. Obama badly wanted the MB in Egypt to help his diabolical plant to isolate Israel but he found Egypt was not going to roll over for him. I am sure Israel will be of great use to the surrounding coalition to fight Iran so that is a good thing for the time being.
Yeah. Congress. I used to think it was just cowardice. Now I see it is more than that. They are bought off by those who do not vote like we do. We have a lot to overcome.
Now those are good questions.
It perhaps may be his desire to aid Iran miltarily, but I'm not sure the military wouldn't draw a line here. As to Congress, well, again, good question.
