Just a question- is it legal to shoot someone who is shooting others if it is not self-defense?

If you walk into a shooting...that’s self defense

Most rules are written to allow for the defense of self and others against the threat of death.

For most states, the laws are written to cover self-defense AND defense of others. If it is legal for you to shoot if it is happening to you, it is legal to shoot when it is happening to someone else. The primary factor is if there is an imminent threat of lethal harm.

(Rape, while usually non-lethal, is still considered to qualify in every state, I believe.)

You defend others “at your peril”, but this was a legitimate use of force. “At your peril” means that if you’re mistaken about the situation and harm somebody who wasn’t a threat, you’re the aggressor and can be criminally liable.

Yes, its not self defense but is defense of another person. Depends on the state.

Stops great bodily harm which is the key.
