Reclaiming climate change as a moral issue
Episcopal News Service ^ | March 30, 2015 | By Lynette Wilson

Posted on 03/30/2015 2:51:51 PM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

When California Bishop Marc Andrus wants to engage people in a conversation about climate change he doesn’t throw statistics at them, rather he begins with a question like: When was the last time you had an experience of wonder in the natural world?

“If we can connect people back to it, or open them up for a fresh experience with wonder, it’s a great starting place for recovering a sense of why [climate change] is a moral issue,” said Andrus.

Throughout history, the church has partnered with social movements on equal rights and justice issues. By beginning the conversation now The Episcopal Church, which has observer status at the United Nations, can begin to talk about how to contribute to the larger conversation on climate change that will take place later this year.

“For the last decade and a half, The Episcopal Church has focused on LGBT issues, and now we’re having a growing consciousness about the enormity of the climate change crisis … and without letting go of any of the other justice issues, we’re seeing that this is the emerging need for our global engagement,” said Andrus. “We are an organization that has some capacity to be a partner to a movement, to be a supporter to a movement, a resource to a movement, from which energy and resources can come.”

Why is it the left disregards what the Bible says is a moral issue, and replaces with faux-moral issues like global warming?

Stomping out the LIE of man-made Climate Change is a moral issue.

Promoting the scam shows that you don't care enough to check the facts.

Odd that this member of the clergy doesn't believe this Scripture:

“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all LIARS, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

~Revelation 21:8

A man of the cloth is the last person who should be spreading the Socialist lie of AGW...

When was the last time you had an experience of wonder in the natural world?

The last time I was alone and didn't have a queer asking me stupid questions.

No. No. I object to the entire premise here.

Liberals tell us that you can’t legislate morality. They also tell us that we aren’t allowed to impose our morality on society in areas such as abortion and homosexual marriage.

The left is against morality being a basis for any laws or regulations in our culture.

But now, they are seeking to say global warming is a moral issue. No, they can’t do that. They are violating their own criteria for positions on issues by citing some moral justification for their position.

They can’t have it both ways.

The moral thing is to prepare to provide enough energy to the inhabitants of Earth to support shelter, food production, all societal functions regardless of whether the planet’s climate gets warmer or colder.

ENERGY!

Of course they can... They're Democrats! Not only that; a lot of them GO both ways. And they will make money on it.

It's a(n im)moral issue.

Or the words of Jesus:

“I am the ‘A’ and the ‘Z,’ the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. How blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they have the right to eat from the Tree of Life and go through the gates into the city! Outside are the homosexuals, those involved with the occult and with drugs, the sexually immoral, murderers, idol-worshippers, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”

Because he doesn't have any to "throw" that will make his case.

I just posted the following comment at the article source:

“Very interesting. However, the mathematics, science and engineering are irrefutable. The only way to reduce mankind’s carbon footprint enough to reach a plateau in atmospheric concentration is the building of nuclear power plants to replace all power generation other than hydroelectric. The only other approach would be mass executions, which one would assume the Episcopal Church would be against.

I eagerly await the follow-up from the Church urging all people to write to Congress and sign petitions demanding nuclear power. If none is forthcoming, then the Church is not serious on this issue.”

Is the mathematics, science and engineering really available for analysis?

These leftist aholes talk about humans being responsible for “greenhouse gases” by using fossil fuels. So what. Just by breathing humans produce carbon dioxide, one of the main ingredients of plant growth (i.e. food).

If all these leftist ignoramuses would drop dead now, that would cut their carbon footprint down to zero and their bodies would be recycled as plant nutrients, a finally productive use of their being after wasting decades of destroying humanity with their science ignorance and leftist rantings.

By the way, “environmental justice” is just another term the Marxists created as a way to get their leftist economic/anti-capitalist agenda into the mainstream media and academia.

You do “justice” when you clean up an area and don’t go off on the economic system. Shit happens, esp. when you have to create an industrial base for defense in order to preserve your very freedom and existence.

I’ve been helping to get superfund sites cleaned up for 20 years. The “blame game” is a legal issue to be sorted out by research and the laws/courts. A lot of what happened in
the past was not deliberate. It was often caused by events of the time, by the logical location of industrial facilities, and often a lack of knowledge or equipment to deal with industrial pollution (some of the earliest modern anti-pollution laws came out of Los Angeles in the late 1930’s, early 40’s due to oil/avgas facilities located there).

Modern American technology is now responsible for helping to clean up much of the major pollution from these sites, as well as to make car fuel-use cleaner and more efficient without bankrupting the industry and the users (Obama intends to do both).

Beware of clergy who stray out of their field because “they become wolves in sheep clothing and spread a false “gospel” about science and the environment”.

Science deals with facts, not religion. Religion can give us a moral guidance in various affairs, but it can’t make a machine that does something useful.

I’ve never seen a bible that could clean up an oil spoil. It can inspire people to do it, to invent the tools necessary, but in the end it is science/technology that will do the job.

The Luddites of the leftists churches today are the actual enemies of the American free enterprise system, among other things they are undermining regarding America’s security.

The new “Purple” is only the old “Red” in a different color. It is just a superficial change of “habit”.
