Not a pleasant one, but one which is necessary.

Problem is, there ain't a Patriot in America today willing to exercise that option. That would require far too much sacrifice for anyone to handle. Somehow, we're "different" from the Founders. Never mind that they had families, jobs, businesses, property, etc. The difference between them and us is that they had huge balls of brass and were willing to sacrifice. We aren't.

The difference is not with us. It is with our leaders. The founding fathers treated politics as a part-time job, not as a career.
