THE CORPORATE-POLITICAL CONNECTION: BEYOND GAY MARRIAGE AND KILLING RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
4/2/2015 | Self

Posted on 04/02/2015 2:59:57 AM PDT by Nextrush

Big Business pressure played a big role in reducing two "tough conservative" Republicans to bowls of mush this week, but it isn't just gay marriage and religious freedom where the Corporate Elites wield influence over Republicans and Democrats.

The US Chamber of Commerce and some of the big corporate names attacking religious freedom this week have also been in the forefront of calling for "comprehensive immigration reform". Those are the code words for Amnesty for illegal immigrants and or a massive increase in work permits for people from foreign countries.

The biggest cheerleader for Common Core educational standards among GOP presidential candidates is Jeb Bush, whose campaign is raking up business-corporate related campaign contributions.

I read some articles in the Lancaster, PA newpaper recently for and against Common Core. A defender of common core was none other than David Patti, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Business Council.

And now lets consider Obamacare. The propaganda machine that supports the Republican Establishment painted the communist-socialist label on it, but Obamacare is different from NHS in the UK and Canada's system.

Obamacare is a government regulated system of mandatory private insurance coverage that forces millions of new customers into buying the higher cost insurance from private companies. The private companies who administer the Medicaid program for poor people also benefit from the increased spending on Medicaid under Obamacare.

Big hospital groups will rake in more money under this system and the pharma industry gets another financial boost just like it did when George W. Bush rolled out Medicare Part D a decade ago.

Obamacare is government stepping in to send big bucks to private companies related to healthcare that's coming out of our pockets. That's why the Republicans are not committed to a real 100 percent repeal of Obamacare.

A word about that progressive bell and whistle in Obamacare called the "death panels". Here again the private insurance companies and big hospitals benefit from government regulation that improves their bottom line by denying costly treatment to patients.

How do government regulations and minimum wage laws help Big Business?

British journalist Peter Hitchens offers answers in a blog post from yesterday (April 1st):

"Different sorts of businessmen have different political needs. Big business, for instance is quite keen on heavy regulation, health and safety, national agreements with trade unions, minimum wages and so forth.

Small business hates regulation of this kind. That's one of the reasons why big business likes it--it's a brake on competitors and helps big industrial dinosaurs stay on top and fight off challenges from small new rivals."

As the poltical situation stands in many legislative bodies at federal and state levels right now Republicans and Democrats are debating with both parties calling for higher minimum wages. Democrats in Washington are pushing a $10.10 minimum wage.

Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon recently announced his company will have a minimum wage at $9 this year and $10 next year, putting his company virtually in synch with the Democrat Party position in an election year.

The Corporatist Uniparty political system we have in this country is pretty extensive and pretty depressing for those who believe in conservative principles, religious or economic.

As an aside... Isn’t it interesting how many big corporations have outspoken gays in upper management and on the boards of directors?

Don’t get me wrong here I can see and understand how that comes about. Gays for the most part have no family life, those who want to can easily focus on the ‘careers’ to the exclusion of every thing else.

Once in ‘power’ they can use their corporate money to influence the political scene.

Interesting, Conservatives work hard to protect big Corp from the heavy hand of govt taxes meanwhile they turn on the very voters keeping the Left from taxing them at 90%!!!!

I have a lesbian SIL and have observed a few things about the LGBT "community".

First, most gays do not know rejection of any kind. Gays are very promiscuous and regardless of physical attributes, most never say no. Sex for them is an obligation. At work gays are celebrated and promoted. They live there life in a cultural bubble. The littlest thing, like a bake respectfully refusing their business, is an affront of the highest order.

You sound like you're disappointed because corporate America suddenly seems more liberal than it used to be.

Actually, that's not true. Big Business has historically been no different than Big Government when it comes to threats to the freedom and liberty of Americans.

I certainly wouldn’t have believed it when I was a teenager listening to radio preachers and conservative commentaries like those sponsored by oilman H.L. Hunt (”Lifeline”) and reading conservative publications like “Human Events”, among others.

A fantasy world of absolute good and evil was laid out to me, a world that a young person using alcohol and inhalants could latch onto. Businesses always were the good guys and the labor unions and liberal media were always the bad guys.

I’m still a drunk, just a sober one now working on acceptance of the world as it really is. The kind of world I laid out in this post.

I seem to identify with LGBT people on a number of levels having experienced bullying as a child (the activists make a big stink about bullying in schools) but based on my experience as a drunk, may I also suggest the notion that LGBT people may be using sex as their “drug of choice”.

“people may be using sex as their “drug of choice”.”

Pride and the heady feeling that arises when one feels “above” the so-called peons may be the most addictive drug of all!

Being a drunk does involve having an attitude of superiority over others. I used to fantasize myself as the ruler of a powerful nation and the head of a media empire to help boost my pride and vanity in addition to having an everyday “I’m better than you” approach.

Just about anything could be used to ignore the reality of their current problems and feelings. And being gay gives them public approval these days, and permission to be drama queens, so to speak. Nothing an addict/alcoholic likes more than being the center of attention.

Seems there’s a lot mire people coming out as gay than gwould fit the statistical number. I think some as not really gay but just wanting the attention.

Pride is at the root of all sin! We become infected as a race with the delusion that each of us can be our own little God, when in reality we are weak pathetic little beings that are all in danger of death and hell were it not for the tender grace of God. That is the utter reality of our existence and the knowledge of death and resurrection of Jesus Chrsit plunges a sword deep into one’s guilty conscience. That is why the leftists scream, and the Kings and the evil rulers of finance scheme against the Jews and Christians!

Well after the social revolution of the 60’s, the socialists successfully infiltrated religious denominations, and universities, eventually all levels of government and now, we see, big business.

I don’t know who will suffer and ask God to “forgive them for they know not what they are doing” but if these militants are not checked, anyone and everyone will be subject to prosecution and persecution.

The blood of any victims will be on the hands of the government and business elites that enable the insanity under banners like “tolerance” and “inclusion”.

I really want to love LGBT people right now.

Pope John Paul II went to a prison to visit and pray with the man who tried to kill him, changing Mehmet Ali Agca’s life forever. The Pope held his hand.

Maybe we need to hold hands and hug people who may come to try and hurt or kill us someday.

I read Peter Hitchens blog and he noted the other week that “Left” is not about economics so much anymore, that train left the station years ago.

“Left” is about sexual freedom now and its on those grounds that the Left fights its political battles now. Using “social issues” or sexual issues will enable totalitarian minded politicians of the “Left” to gain power.

The Labour Party in the UK retooled itself to fight for liberal abortion laws and the decriminalization of homosexuality under the leadership of Prime Minister Harold Wilson, who won two General Elections in 1964 and 1966.

And the world of politics there was changed permanently eventually infecting both major political parties.

nothing is permanent except death, taxes and....”change.”

You have a good point, I could be very wrong about “permanent” being attached but for now “Social Leftism” is firmly controlling major political parties in the UK and other nations.

Big business has their own God - the dollar. My CEO called Pence and threatened him as well, but won’t say anything about Women’s Rights in Saudi Arabia, since we have huge contracts there.
