One of many questions that have surfaced after German pilot Andrea Lubitz allegedly drove a commercial airliner into a mountain in Southern France last week is whether or not he planned to carry out such a despicable act of cowardice in advance. Bearing in mind the obvious caveat that the investigation is still underway – and investigators can never know with absolute certainty what happened – the preliminary evidence suggests that it was.
The New York Times reports:
The co-pilot at the controls of the Germanwings airliner that crashed into the French Alps last week had been searching the Internet in the days immediately leading up to the crash for information about how to commit suicide and the security measures for cockpit doors, prosecutors said here on Thursday. …
“During this time the user was searching for medical treatments, as well as informing himself about ways and possibilities of killing himself,” they said in a statement.
“On at least one day the person concerned also spent several minutes looking up search terms about cockpit doors and their safety measures,” the statement said.
Strangely, as the flight descended during those eight minutes of desperation, Lubitz remained eerily silent. As far as investigators can surmise, he was breathing calmly and relatively serene until the moment of impact. Investigators, meanwhile, have also concluded that the flight’s captain was locked out of the cockpit, and attempted to use several objects to regain entry when he discovered what was happening. Finally, we also know Lubitz suffered from “severe depression” – a medical condition the company he worked for apparently knew about.
Given these facts – as well as new details that Lubitz was both 'Googling' ways to off himself and the security mechanisms of cockpit doors – is there any doubt that he committed this treacherous act of mass murder? As it happens, there is:
Friends of Germanwings pilot Andreas Lubitz say he is being framed as a murderer in the plane crash that killed 150 on board a flight last week from Barcelona, Spain, to Düsseldorf, Germany. His supporters have established a Facebook page titled (in German) “Andreas Lubitz A320, we are against the hunt” to share their theories about the causes of the March 24 crash in the French Alps, the Daily Mail reported. Several commenters on the page have said investigators' statements that Lubitz, 27, intentionally crashed the plane are part of a cover-up by Germanwings parent company Lufthansa to hide mechanical issues that may have resulted in the crash.
This would be one hell of a cover up. The evidence, however, strongly suggests that Lubitz was solely responsible for what happened.
Defending him by eliding – or even inventing – certain facts does not necessarily make him innocent.
It was a gay terrorist act out of revenge or hatred of heterosexuals.
Yep, it's only an allegation.
Can't be predjudicing the jury pool now, can we?

NOTHING ELSE justifies the use of the word, ‘alleged’
There were also reports that his computer showed extensive searching of gay porn sites.
These conflicting images may be the result of the PC community protecting his homosexuality.
Unlikely he passed out or succumbed to medication just when the pilot stepped out. Whatever his motive, it is difficult to imagine this act was not deliberate.
Mechanical problems with the aircraft?
So he went mute as well and couldn’t respond to the pilot who was yelling and pounding on the door outside the cockpit?
Can you get any more ridiculous? His girlfriend is expecting a child from him
Remember a time when not everything was a conspiracy? Seems long ago.
Many assume that since he had a girl friend and her being pregnant that be wasn’t gay, but that is not true.
Some women have married men only later to find out that their man is gay.
Thinking that he was not gay because he had a pregnant girl friend is being nieve.
It’s a assumption to think he was not gay because he had a girlfriend.... Now that is being ridiculous.
There were no mechanical problems with the plane. He did it on purpose, because he was afraid to lose his pilot license if it came out that he had medical problems like a detached retina where he would lose his vision. He also had psychological problems, which he all hid from the company. The evidence was found by the German police in his house
He had other girlfriends before her, and there is no proof that he was gay
Doesn’t mean anything if he had ex girl friends, bi-sexuals go both ways.
It’s nieve to think that just because he had girl friends doesn’t mean he wasn’t gay.
My step uncle was married to a few women, but hid his gayness, he would beat his wives.
Well, the other “cover up” is the poster that was hanging on the wall in his bedroom - Welcoming him to “Jihad”.
If that poster is true, and not just some novelty to him, then the area of Germany where he trained was in the very local of a radical mosque found to have radicalized some of America’s 9/11 terrorists.
Also, if he was more unstable than people really knew (even his employer), contact with a radical mosque could tend to drive you over the cliff. I suspect this because he seemed DRIVEN to commit this act. He did NOT do this at the spur of the moment. Are most suicides spur of the moment, or are they planned over some period of time?
It may take years before we finally find out the truth.
Immediate crash program to develop a bullet proof lied detector system using the latest brain scan and image analysis technology. Subsequent program to test all mission critical personnel in business and government, especially in government.
PS. Anyone recall all the arm waving here on Free Republic about Lubitz being a Muslim convert and his GF being a Muslim convert? Anything instructive there? Anything embarrassing there?
You can be sure if had been a Muslim convert it would have been reported
