I want to know *everything* there is to know about both the cop and the dead guy before I reach any firm conclusions.If the dead guy had a history of lawbreaking or other anti-social or destructive behavior I *might* consider it possible that this was,in fact,a justified shooting.If he had a clean history I'd be much less sympathetic to the cop.OTOH,if the cop had a history of drugs,booze,spousal/child abuse or disciplinary problems on the police force I'd seriously suspect that it wasn't justified.If he had a clean record I might have a different opinion.

I’m with you. I did that in the Zimmerman and brown cases. As the evidence trickled out it became more and more obvious what the right position was. Eventually, it was so obvious that those on the internet arguing for what we now know was the “wrong” position looked stupid and racist.

On one site where I’ve been a member for over a decade, I kept a list of which members are not logical thinkers.

The problem is that whether a shooting is legally justified has nothing whatsoever to do with the records of the parties involved.

You may think he’s a better or worse person based on that record, but a career criminal who kills someone justifiably is and should be in exactly the same position as someone who’s led an utterly blameless life.

Except of course that the career criminal probably shouldn’t have had a gun to begin with.

BTW, I’ve seen remarkably little comment on the fact that the second cop referred to here is black. Quite black.

Nah, all I had to see was a pudgy 51 year old black man running away from a 36 year old white cop who carefully and deliberately aimed and gunned down the black man from behind. Including a nice dramatic pause before the kill shot.

What we saw was the ugly of white cops. I don’t even try to defend them anymore. Now I just want 50% of cops to flat out have their guns taken away and they’re to conduct police work without them. The other 50% with guns can wait around the precincts and patrol areas waiting for back up calls.

Scott had a warrant out because he was behind on child-support payments. I’m pretty sure that justifies 5 bullets in the back at 50 feet.

Why not just hunt all them bad peoples down and shoot them...better yet line them all up against a wall facing backwards and execute them, they are bad peoples afterall.
