That might have been the most poorly reported story that I have seen so far this year. After watching it, I am still not ever sure exactly what she had in the backpack and when exactly she noticed the items were missing...and why was she carrying this stuff with her on a vacation to San Diego?
And as for determining value for insurance purposes, that is not that difficult. I suspect she lost or sold the stuff and is now trying to get some money by making up a crazy story!

I think she had those items in her backpack and the only time it was out of her control was when it went through airport security. Sounds like she didn’t know they were gone until she got wherever she was going.
