Bake Your Own Damn Cake

Liberals overplay their hand. It’s part of the deficiency. Whether real or perceived, if the pagan left can rationalize a sense of “progress” on some freedom-killing cause du jour, then it’ll push, push, push until it falls flat on its face.

Step aside, America. Give them room.

Religious liberty is non-negotiable. Freedom of conscience is the bedrock of American society. Today’s anti-Christian lynch mob, which angrily imagines that some newfangled “gay right” to not be offended trumps the First Amendment, is not only on the wrong side of the U.S. Constitution, it’s on the wrong side of history.

It’s also on the wrong side of public opinion.

Bloomberg reporter Dave Weigel gets it. That is, he gets it to the extent that any mainstream media-type can get anything. Weigel is a liberal. Despite this affliction, he recently admitted that Religious Freedom Restoration Acts like the one signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993 and those introduced in Indiana, Arkansas and dozens of other states are, media propaganda notwithstanding, popular with the American people.

Lawfirms are refusing to defend traditional marriage laws in the courts.

Become an attorney and then a baker, lawyers seem to be the only ones permitted to deny their services to some members of the public. And clearly it isn’t morality that drives their refusal of service, they stand up for traitors, murderers, rapists, and more using every trick in the book to reduce sentencing or get a guilty client off scott free.

I agree this is a problem but it’s not an insoluble one. Fr. Z had a good idea. If one or more of these people ask you to cater their faux wedding just politely say you would rather not for religious reasons. If they decide to be dicks (pun intended) about it then say fine. We will cater your bash and we will do a great job. We will charge our normal rates. And when it is over, every penny above the base cost of the service will be donated to the Family Research Council (or fill in your favorite charity guaranteed to make their heads explode) and it will be done in their name. And we will take out a newspaper add publicly thanking them for their contribution.

I strongly suspect that this would effectively end the problem.

Can Christians be made to provide services for satanic rituals?

How about pagan rituals?

Where has all the flour gone, long time passing?
Where has all the flour gone, long time ago?
Where has all the flour gone?
Gone for cakes for everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Gone for new wives everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing?
Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago?
Where have all the husbands gone?
Marry each other everyone
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all gay couples gone, long time passing?
Where have all gay couples gone, long time ago?
Where have all gay couples gone?
To Christian bakers, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the bakers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the bakers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the bakers gone?
Closed their businesses, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where has all the flour gone, long time passing?
Where has all the flour gone, long time ago?
Where has all the flour gone?
No more cakes for anyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Here’s an idea for an enterprising baker: open a bakery, decorate it with Christian symbols. Make public pronouncements of faith.

When the gays come in to have you bake their cakes, bake them, upsell the crap out of the product with every bell and whistle you can while acting like you are doing it to just drive their business away. Once they “force” you to go forward with it, just do it, cash the check, spend your profits. ‘Murica!

I used to work for Anheuser-Busch. I hate beer. I don’t drink alcohol because my father was an alcoholic when I was growing up and it was not a good childhood. I was an Industrial Electrician, so the beer wasn’t really part of my job and I liked making the money. Once a month, they’d make a big deal out of giving each employee two free cases of beer. I would always turn it down and would catch hell for doing so. The plant manager told me to take it and give it to a friend. I explained that I don’t want anything to do with it because I was only there for the machines. He respected that and left me alone after that on free beer day.

I can’t find a right to not be offended anywhere in the Constitution. Unfortunately darn near as many on the right get their panties in a wad as on the left.

Saying “I’m Offended” means that one is unable to manage their emotions and thus is demanding that everyone else do it for them

Back somewhere in my posting history I have posts putting forth this same idea of assigning the proceeds of a homosexual wedding cake to promoting traditional marriage.

I think that the idea may be subject to discrimination laws, because homosexual cakes are singled out. Don’t know, it’s a legal question, and I’m not an attorney.

The easy workaround, however, is to donate a fixed amount from all wedding cakes to those causes.

Here is to kicker; Encourage matching funds from non-business sources, friends, churches, customers for cakes of their choosing.

Business contributes $10 per cake (let’s say), others match it at 10:1, or some amount of their own choosing.

Suddenly, thousands of dollars are raised, the community is involved, and, as nearly as I can determine, no laws are broken.

The writer is wrong.

What actually happens is progressives push forward to failure, fall back, and then push again, repeat until the progressives have bullies, browbeat and otherwise convinced or coerced enough people to get down on their knees like good little punks to suck down and swallow, without a single critical thought, whatever the progressives pump down their propaganda spigot on that issue. Then the laws get either changed or reinterpreted to back the progressive play.

Then on to the next issue.

Repeat.

Take a good, hard look at what’s been done over the last half century. Not once. Not. One. Single. Solitary. Time, have the progressives suffered a long term defeat. All appearances of defeat or only tactical and only for a limited time.

One fairly recent example: Chick-Fil-A. Yes, the company was successful in holding off the domestic enemy/destructionists. So, what happened after? The destructionists realized that it wasn’t time yet to go after a corp with the resources to weather their attack. So, now they go after small businesses. And, the laws or interp on those laws are being changed to support the destructionists’ whims.

If they can force people with religious objections to make specified things that violate the religious people’s beliefs, they can force anybody to do so.

They may be able to force you to bake the cake. But they can’t refuse to pay you. Once they pay you, its your money. And no, they can’t tell you what to do with your money.

Are you an attorney?

They can’t tell you what you can do with your money?

How about your labor, are they able to tell you what you can do with your labor?

Their side has a boatload of clever attorneys, and has stacked the deck of the ‘Human Rights’ panels, or whatever they are called.

Witness the decision of the CO panel on homosexuals decision last year vs. the decision against the Christian just last week.

Common sense and evenhandedness had no bearing on the two opposite outcomes.

The problem with making a bad cake in response to the demand is that they can sue for you making them sick on a special day.

One article with a suggestion I was was “Christians to Gays: We’ll Accept Your Business and Donate Your Money to ‘Traditional Pro-Family Lobby’”

Another article had a priest saying to be blatantly Christian, that you’ll show up with a holy family on the vehicle, Christian pins and bible verses on T-shirts, evangelizing. And you’ll donate all the proceeds of their event to the church, with a notice in the paper and your website thanking this gay couple for donating to your Christian business / cause.
