The Presidio of Monterey was an open post even in the 90s when I was there. It didn’t close until 9/11.

When I moved to SF in ‘73, the Presidio in SF, Fort Mason in SF, and forts Barry, Baker and Cronkhite in Marin County were all open. Now they are all part of one of the most spectacular park systems in the world.
