How long do you think the King would last if he cut off all funds to the followers of Wahabbism?
If he did it he would be toppled and a Kallifate would emerge with Wahabbism as it’s driving force.
Think Iran on steroids.
As I said before, the King disburses funds to his family. Some of those funds wind up in places the king probably wishes they wouldn’t. Unfortunately, the Islamic sect wants it there.
One of these days big changes will come to Saudi Arabia. When it does, those who have championed change there for decades are going to get a big surprise.
There were a lot of folks who thought Iran was going to be a lot better if only there was change away from that evil Shah guy.
Look what happened there.
Those Islamic people are actually tame by Wahabbi standards. They despise the U. S.
When there is no king to hold them back, look out.
“How long do you think the King would last if he cut off all funds to the followers of Wahabbism?”
And there you have the issue. The PEOPLE of Saudi deserve a good thorough nuking. If the King can’t help but accidentally fund and support 9/11 and THAT’S YOUR ARGUMENT, then the whole place needs to go up in flames.
you mean a Caliphate
you already have the Kingdom with AlQaeda etc. with Wahabbism as its driving force
Also, If the Saudi family is toppled, then the Arabian peninsula returns to what it was before the Saudis -- a mass of different emirates. Even the Ottomans didn't try to control them, all they did was ensure that the routes to Mecca and Medina were secure and that they got tribute from the tribes. Saudi Arabia is an empire -- the Saudi kingdom/clan having conquered the other emirates
Iran doesn't sponsor Anti-Western or anti-Christian terrorism anyway near the Saudis do already. In fact in Iran, Christians can live and worship peacefully (as can Jews) -- quite unlike the Sunni lands
The King wants it -- the money going to madrassas or Sunni terrorists go to those promoting the Salafis/Wahabbi philosophy. So, whether it goes to Salafist or the Deobandi school or hard-core Wahabbis (the philosophy of these three are more or less the same), it's by the will of the Saud dynasty.
they would start fighting each other.
Let's look at the following maps
First, the dispersal of Sunnis and Shias and the various groupings of them
25% of Saudi citizens are Shia - twelvers or Zayyidi or Ismaili
Now the Twelvers are the majority in the oil based provinces. And the Ismailis despise the Saudis for having bulldozed the graves of the early Caliphs and of Mohammad's wife Aisha -- they even wanted to destroy the grave of Mohammad. This also pissed off the Sufi school of Sunnis -- these revere "saints" -- whose tombs were destroyed by Wahabbis
you overlay this with the various tribes and clans etc.
And you see that the arabs would be just as they were before Lawrence of Arabia came and united them (remembe the movie when lawrence says "if the Arabs do not unite they will always be a divided and weak people")
So, DoughtyOne, if there is no Saudi king, expect a group of various emirates springing up -- some Sunni hanafi, some Sunni Wahabbi, sone Sufi-Sunni, Some Ismaili, some zayyidi, some Twelver shia and even some Ibadi in the east (or they would join with Oman)
