McConnell whipped for Lynch, avoiding nuclear fallout
The Hill ^ | April 23, 2015 | Alexander Bolton

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) worked quietly to round up more than 60 votes to end a filibuster of Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch, Republican senators say.

After holding up Lynch’s confirmation vote for weeks, McConnell worked to ensure she would overcome a filibuster with a strong bipartisan vote, pitting him against Tea Party firebrand Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other conservatives.

Some GOP senators say McConnell wanted to avoid a battle over the “nuclear option,” the controversial tactic then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) employed in 2013 to reduce the threshold for ending a filibuster of most executive nominees from 60 votes to a simple majority.

No doubt McConnell scheduled the vote for when he knew Cruz would be away.

I’m so thankful for all that McConnell has done... that I’d like to send him some exercise equipment.

I repeatedly told people that McConnell would do this sort of stuff, and that we would be better off with Democrat Grimes in his seat instead.

Sometimes a Democrat is a better choice than is a traitor.

I’m waiting to hear from those that criticized me because I refused to vote for the RINO SOB.

Sold out again by Harry’s Bitch.

Most of the GOP Senators are Democrats in R jerseys and deserve to be removed from office.

Thought of that too. The elites want to get rid of Cruz,, so they are going to do anything and everything to make him look bad.

It’s a shame that a Republican candidate not only has to fend off the Democrats, but also his own party.

...

That would have had some impact, like Cantor being defeated, but the GOPe would have installed another one of their capos to be leader.

Cruz was not away. He blasted the GOPe from the floor 3 hours before the vote.

When cloture passed, there was no reason to show up and vote on the final vote. It was a done deal.

But the message would have been sent that there is a cost to attacking us.

Yertle the Tertle needs to crawl back into his stagnant pond.

I've warned about this piece of cloaked democrat crap before.

Never, ever liked him.

He has shown his true colors...and they ain't republican.

I would have been happy if the headline had ended with, “McConnell Whipped”.

If Cruz becomes President, Mitchie’s days as Majority Leader are numbered as are John Boehner’s.

If you feared for the Republic before the GOP took control of the Senate fear more for it now.

What’s the difference between having Bitch McConnell or Hairy Reid running the Senate? Not much that I can tell.

The only person who looks bad here is Mitch. I always expect this kind of thing from elite/establishment types. RINOs don’t understand but this event was excellent for isolating e/e types. Any intelligent person would immediately realize this is 100% Mitch McConnell’s hand. So anyone attacking Cruz instead of standing with him is either low intelligence or working for Mitch and the e/e.

I don’t support libs, the e/e, squishes, stealth RINOs or pretend conservatives. Incidents like this make it much easier to determine who deserves my vote.
