Fallen: Nepal's historic landmarks after the quake
CNN ^

When the earthquake hit, many of Nepal's most renowned pagodas in and around Kathmandu crumbled into rubble-covered stumps. Others were smothered under splintered hand-carved wooden beams or multi-level rooftops.

But the Kathmandu Valley's other pagodas, stupas and shrines -- also built mostly of red brick hundreds of years ago -- suffered surprisingly little damage and remained standing next to structures which disappeared.

It’ll save ISIS the trouble of destroying them when they get there.

Brick and mason structures don’t usually hold up well in strong earthquakes

They'll find a way, or they'll blame it on 'climate change.'

In Istanbul in the fifties, mild earthquakes were pretty often and each one would bring down a couple of recently built apartment buildings. There was no steel in the concrete. A new one would replace the collapsed one in a few months time and again, no steel.

Or to Isis for that matter who have been playing the role of a human earthquake to ancient monuments and humans alike. One can dream though.

Nepal is overwhelmingly Hindu, with Buddhism the second largest religion. Muslims are a tiny minority, well under 5% of the population.

True, but Muslims want to take over the entire world. They’ll be coming.

You must have missed the memo... the narrative this week is Global Warming. Next week's news cycle we will return to our anti-fracking agenda.

They will try to tie in the frakking for sure, but we all know it’s anthropogenic asset restructuring...I mean global warming.

The glaciers are melting on Everest. Less weight causes the rock to pop up. Earthquake!

I have no idea if the glaciers are melting on Everest. Some places in the world they are, other places they are growing. And while the Canadian shield (rock) does have minor earthquakes as the rock is still “rebounding” from not having a mile thick weight of ice on it, that does not compare to the relatively small amounts of ice in mountain glaciers.

But you know that if you paid substantially more for the electricity used to run your air conditioner in August that certain people would feel much better while Russia continues to work toward a new Soviet Union, China continues to capitalize on communist enforced slave labor, and ISIS continues enslaving girls, slaughtering Christians, raping more boys and executing queers.
