A government teacher is being hailed as a hero after tackling a 16-year-old student who fired two shots into the air Monday at a Washington state high school, police and students said.

No one was injured after the teen shot toward the ceiling in the school commons before classes began at North Thurston High School in Lacey, about 60 miles southwest of Seattle, authorities said. The shooter is in custody.

Brady Olson, who teaches Advanced Placement government and civics, stopped the shooter, according to school officials and students.

“If anyone in the school were to do something like he did, I would think it would be him,” said Teia Patan, 17, who saw the shooting but did not see Olson tackle the gunman. “He’s one of those people who watch over kids.”

Heroes run toward the gunfire, sheeple run away. (not talking about kids here, praising the teacher)

That kid is in big trouble.

Doesn’t he know that schools are gun-free zones?

Very good! One of the sad things in almost all of these cases is that nobody ever resists or counterattacks. When they do, it often works. I believe there was another famous incident in Washington State, where a football team member tackled the shooter and brought him down.

Good! That’s exactly the type I want teaching AP government and civics. Not some pointy-headed Marxist egghead. Hopefully he isn’t the blue collar union goon type Marxist either.

I posted a few weeks ago that I’m amazed and glad that the Air Force active shooter scenario training now actually says, “If armed, shoot back” or words to that effect. It also says in more than one place, “Commit to the fight” instead of “hide in your office till the good guys come rescue you or the bad guys kill you”.

‘Bout damn time.

Those with a bad sense of direction, or a death wish, run towards gunfire unarmed.

Seriously though this guy has some big kahones.

“Commit to the fight” instead of “hide in your office ...‘Bout damn time.

Exactly. These lunatics know that they will meet no resistance, and that's one of the reasons they are so bold.

Hey, its not the kids fault they failed to put up signs saying so. If they did, he wouldve walked away instead. ;-)

Good for Brady Olson.

It’s so seldom that we hear something good about todays teachers, I plan to send him a letter.
