In New York, the State Guard was barely military. We wore the uniforms, we learned drill and basic military radio, etiquette, how to read a topo-map and how to navigate with it, and how to liason with civilian police (we were MP's). We even got an abbreviated civilian police training to learn how they work.

But we were granted no firearms, nor any true combat training.

Not sure the State Guard will be very effective.

State guard in Texas is a little different.

It doesn't take a lot to observe.

I believe that is all that the governor has asked for now. Observation.

The Army is running around up in Cooper’s Creek on the game management area here in GA. They keep running into individuals in full battle rattle with AR’s and binoculars observing them from ridgetops. :-)
