No kidding.
I yelled at some teenagers in the Air and Space Museum once as they were scratching paint off the nose of Flak Bait (B-26 Marauder and the high-mission bomber in the ETO). I don’t think they’d ever been reprimanded before.
One of the “adults” with them (I won’t use the word “parent”) was over looking at the P-51, turned around and started coming towards me with a glare on his face. Luckily a docent popped up and said “thank you” to me. Certainly defused what was going to be a tense confrontation.
I’ve found out over the years that I’m not alone in yelling at kids for doing that. Thankfully she’s out a Dulles being restored (sympathetic preservation, actually) but the damage a few decades worth of kids did to her is going to be hard to repair.
