These are similar to the circumstances that originally brought the Clintons to the White House. The Republicans looked unbeatable and no Democrats wanted to run. Bill stepped into the breech. Then, the Republicans imploded and this political carpetbagger ended up president. All it would take to make another Democratic nobody into the next Clinton is that somebody step in and then is left standing when fist Hillary and then the Republican implode. Then we end up with a President Warren or Kerry.
IIRC, what gave Klintoon the White House in 1992 was Ross Perot, who took nearly 30% of the vote. I think Klintoon only got 49% of the vote. He was not a majority president.
