Some Leftists are simply hiding their real hatred of their fellow man in a cloak of good intentions. They want to hurt their fellow man but need to change the system (a revolution) to get the opportunity of doing so.
Some Leftists are simply cynical opportunists who see opportunity for themselves in change.

Any political philosophy placing power into the hands of the state rather than supporting the sovereignty of the individual is indeed leftist.

Leftists and their Liberal minions will forever be the “Think” Charlatans — they are intellectually superior by no other measure than the declaration of saying so.
Both leftists and rightists can be authoritian. But their focus is different. Right wing authoritarians want people to adhere to established laws and morals. Left wing authoritarians create new laws and morals and then try to force everyone to adhere to them.
That is why true conservatives are not ideological conservatives.
That is why true conservatives are not libertarian or neoconservative.
