According to court documents of the 650 workers at the Baltimore Detention Center, over HALF were involved in contraband and other operations for the Black Guerrilla Family.
My “So.....whut” comment wasn’t “So what?”
More intended to say “uh, okay.....WTF?” and then a bemusement about the correctional officers actually being inmates on OJT to be correctional officers. :0)
The inmates are running the jail.

My experience is that the Civil Service Commission sets the testing, physical, and psychological standards. The testing is performed by avtive police staff or by outside contractor oversaw by active staff. The results are then rated highest to lowest and given to the chief who then makes his selection. HR then makes offers of employment.

I guess it is different on how applications go through in various areas..
I’ve known a couple who work in HR for the police and they pick and choose whose applications go through based on what you said , but also if they like the look of the person, if they are friends or friends of friends. One woman is out of college for just two years and has that much power to decide if an application goes through to do background checks and meet in an oral board with the higher ups.
The last I knew she had chosen one of the biggest idiots you could meet, no life experience, no anything, not even college and yet that young guy is on the street in his patrol car while another rougher looking older guy applied and he was refused and yet was more qualified with an education, police work etc.
Either process is no guarantee of quality employees.

Oh, this ISN’T the “police” as I thought was said on radio this morning.
This is the same bunch, I guess, from the Balto jail who became famous for screwing their male charges who were still getting deals and making hits from their jail cells. The women who got impregnated by these bums.
Corruption all around.
