Can't boot them because of tenant protection laws in California.

Enjoy the thuggery.

This is how you turn a country into a 3rd world one.

make government so large and bureaucratic, and the law so complicated that the law becomes useless. When law is useless, people instead rely on informal networks to resolve problems.

So the next step is to hire some thugs to go in and literally carry the squatters out.

Lots of scammers roaming Airbnb.
The company is ok but NOT the renters/rentees.
I will never use it again.

VRBO is much better and safer.

I’m sorry — the police can’t come and remove them?

Surely they know a few 215lb fellas that’ll come over for a beer.

Hire a couple of actors to play the part of bikers and “rent” them a room. Pour human feces on the floors. (A repossessed house I bought in a really nice neighborhood had human feces in two rooms. I did get a great deal, though. Fortunately, it was winter when I donned PPE.)

Just the Master Bedroom? No food and no water and after 4 days they will be begging to leave.

I really don’t want the rest of the country to become California.

I would have lots of fun with this one.

So many options.

Had a squatter in my Calif house. I hired her to clean it to get it ready to rent. She decided to stay ... without permission and no rent. Cost me $4,000 to get her out.

Sounds like a job for Nik-O-Lok...

Got what they deserved for using an App & inviting strangers into their home without knowing local/state laws.

Rent out the rest of the house to the Crips or similar fraternal organization offering free rent if they can get the scammers to move.

“Poonam Sandhu rented out the master bedroom of her Watsonville, California home”

And there lies her first big mistake.

Makes me wonder why a certain “stately” manor in a certain windy city that will soon have a (p)residential library hasn’t been occupied by some trespassers. Sounds like a grand idear to me. Move on in their deadbeats.

While I'm not anywhere near stupid enough to get into this kind of asinine situation, when I see them, I kinda wish it was me.

Think of the opportunities to purge one's aggression!

Two o'clock in the morning...why I feel the need to play In-a-gad a-da-vida at max volume, with the twin 500 watt Kenwoods pointed directly at (if not touching) the door of the squatter pieces of shit.

Passing one of them in the hallway...an earshattering fog horn, just to make sure they mind the drop of spilled liquid on the floor.

I can go and on, but I damned well assure you they'd be the hell out of my home pretty quickly.

Then take me to court!

Can you say jury nullification?

Although in Californicate, it's doubtful you'd find one conservative with balls to sit on the jury.

I suppose these laws were to protect tenants from some rather unsavory landlords. My one and only landlord was a decent guy, but there are some who aren’t. But like just about every other law, these tenant laws have made problems worse and created some new ones.

I do know that it’s difficult to remove tenants who are on public assistance. My Dad’s friend rented to a couple on welfare who proceeded to trash the apartment, then wouldn’t pay their share of the rent (most of the rent was subsidized). Took him several legal proceedings over two years and costing thousands in legal fees to finally get them out.

This should kill the Airbnb business in CA. Maybe that’s the idea.

Close the house. Turn off the water gas and lights. Go on vacation.
