Those dictators keep their enemies away to do mayhem and keep their armies very close as bodyguards. They are watching their armies much closer than their enemies and always worried about the inevitable coup.

Ignorant dictators know very well that they are illegitimate. Holding to the throne in the capital is the only thing they worry about.

Nigeria's population is 50% Mohammedan. That's all I know about Nigeria, but that might have something to do with it.
