If something hit the front of the train, at best, it would have slowed it down a bit, not accelerated it.

Kids throw crap at trains all the time.
You should watch CNN. They are building up the engineer’s image as a hero who was very concerned about the very same accident that occurred. They are saying that this was his dream job and he is totally devastated that this happened. Why are they building him up so much like this? From the start of the reporting they have been building him up to be a hero and an angel. This is deliberate and why are they doing it? Is it because he is gay? Or is it because he is gay and may be found guilty of negligence? Something fishy here.
What if the engineer was also struck by said object or the spray of fragments and that his head injury is a result of THAT and not the accident?? Not so far fetched that the train sped up if it caused him to lurch the accelerator forward.
The guy who crashed the train is a gay activist. Unstable. Has something to prove.

This happened in a populated area. The foreign projectile was likely a rock thrown by kids - pranksters. We all know what a decent-sized rock can do to an automobile windshield. The big question for me is, is that an incidental red herring or did it play an integral role in the accident?
