Don’t agree one iota. Now while my loathing of O’Dimwit is WELL documented, our Police, the State, is WAY over armed. They do NOT need military gear. Period.

This is a knee jerk “O’Dimwit did it so it must be bad” reaction.

Bringing police armament within reason is a good thing. Be assured, that one day those military weapons will most assuredly be used against Patriots.

Agreed. Obama is right on this, and in fact, most here on FR (myself included) have been demanding a halt to police militarization for a long time.

What you said sounds good and makes sense. But there is still the question - is Obama trying to establish a Federal Police Force to replace the rest? And if so, how would that likely impact the People?

How often have those on the Left come up with good-sounding and even rational reasons to do something, then twisted it all pout of shape to add to the government's power over the People? When federal funds are distributed to local agencies, you can bet that there are steel cables with big hooks attached. Add Obama's propensity to declare that minorities need to be treated differently and you have a real issue developing.
