I think the issue is broader than that. I think the institution of marriage which has been dying for decades has finally all but died and by no means just in Ireland.It’s ironic that the only population cohort enthusiastic about marriage are gays.

Are we heading to a brave new world where male-female couples producing the children the ol' fashioned way is no longer the norm? That all babies will be the result of a computer program, test tube start, designed for specific attributes? That unnecessary children will be discouraged?

That used to be science fiction. But when abortion and same-sex "marriage" and a completely narcisstic culture are embraced as the norm, it does seem to be the direction of things.

Well, when the huge liability that your wife will suddenly dump you, and doesn’t need infidelity or abuse as a reason, is a pretty good incentive not to get married.
