Our family got involved with Scouting 8 years ago. We saw it as not only something good for our kids, but as an opportunity to be a positive influence on kids that might not have it at home. In 2013 when the policy was changed for the youth we almost walked away, but realized if we were in it for the youth we needed to stay. But with the announcement by Gates we’re staying just long enough for our youngest to finish his Eagle project and 2 merit badges. It was / is a sad day but now that the Boy Scouts have taken this step down this path their days are numbered.

I have a nephew who has been in Scouting since he was a little guy (he’s now 13). I fear for him and have talked to my brother about it and he does go on all the camping trips and participates in activities with my nephew, so that is some comfort. I will be glad once my nephew is no longer in Scouting - breaks my heart to say it because it’s been an important part of a lot of lives until the sodomites made it a target and moral cowardice has prevailed.
