I guess I just dont know how I feel about these things.
Trucking items across the nation is really expensive, and if these machines can be made to run “autonomously” and not have to stop for the night or kill people, then it could result in cheaper goods and more efficiency.
But the self-driving car thing just creeps me out.
supposedly will save accidents as drivers now get bored on long stretches -
ummm - so just sitting there watching the road go by - they won’t get bored?
And they can’t say when or if these trucks will even NOT need a driver on board - as it says, they can’t drive themselves in cities - so a real driver will be need to maneuver the actual deliveries/pickups. So - that saves money how?
Since each vehicle has a "pilot" at the present, I'm not sure what happens at night.
They can post to FR or play solitaire on their laptops.;-)
Fine, let the rest of the country learn what the new jersey turnpike is like.
“Six days on the road and I’m gonna make it home tonight.”
It will kill a certain type of country music song for one thing.
Sounds like it might be really easy to hijack or steal these type of trucks. !!
