The 100,000 figure seems pretty high, though I'm not denying there's a serious problem. I admit I haven't done any research beyond just observing the news, but I think that 10,000 would be closer to the truth.

We hear about the massacres and the beheadings, and the numbers are usually between one and a few dozen, maybe a few hundred in some circumstances.

I don't see how that adds up to 100,000, unless most of it comes from countries (China/North Korea) where news about repression often doesn't get out into the worldwide press.

The 100,000 figure was put out by a couple groups and the Vatican a few years ago, most other organizations put it closer to your figure. I think the larger figure uses looser definitions or martyrs. Doesn’t really matter, the intent is there, and no one raises an alarm. You’re right about Korea and China, but I think they’re more into prison than murder. Then there’s Africa. Who knows numbers there.

I heard someone refer to the rise of ISIS and the death of somewhere between 5 and 600,000 Christians being murdered by them. The way moslems have historically conquered territory, frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised at all. They cut a swath like a mini-gun.
