Murder suspect resented wife's family, blames Russian secret police for murders

SPOKANE, Wash. -

Court documents reveal a bizarre string of events that led them to arrest a man they suspect killed his wife's family in Colbert. It was clear the night of the murders Roy Murry was the man they were looking for.

Lisa Canfield, Terry Canfield and John Constable were shot to death, their home set on fire. Canfield's daughter Amanda Murry was supposed to be at the home that night, but had to work late. When she arrived at the Colbert home at 3:38 that morning, she saw fire and police and immediately called her estranged husband Roy.

"Amanda Murry said that Roy Murry was the only person who she suspected had any reason to do harm to the resident to do harm to the residents of 20 E. Chattaroy," court documents say. Amanda and Roy were married, but Amanda had been living with her family in Colbert since December 2014.

She immediately described to investigators the bizarre behavior that led her to believe Murry was responsible. She said Lisa and Terry Canfield never got along with Roy and that Roy blamed them for his separation from his wife.

"Amanda said Roy would see the killing of the family as a loss of her security and love for the most important thing in her life," states the affidavit of facts filed in Spokane County Court.

Roy Murry served in the Iraq war. Amanda told investigators her husband "has been becoming increasingly delusional and suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from combat injuries he suffered in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Army."

"Amanda Murry said Roy Murry had been to the house on Chattaroy many times before, and occasionally would sneak in the back door and sit in Terrance Canfield's chair."

The day before the murders, Amanda said Roy called her and
