Very few people get this. They admit that the “official unemployment rate” does not include people not “actively looking for work.”
On another thread, the government admitted that people not actively looking for work is about 40% not included in the “official unemployment rate.”
9% is the official unemployment based on 5.4% the “official unemoyment rate” plus 40% “not actively looking for work.”
18% would be the number used for comparison with Great Depression. This would include the 9% above plus the 50% of people that are underemployed. This is how it was calculated then. Shadowstats does a better job with these numbers.
We have had about 20% unemployment/underemployment since 2008. Compare to about 20% for Great Depression for same time period.

If we get a good conservative administration in 2017, the media will start to investigate these bogus numbers, but they won’t reach back to Obama, but make it appear that the CURRENT administration is lying.
And any actual good news will get swept under the carpet, or on page B 26.
