The Type 055 is going to be a strong vessel.
Either 112 or 128 VLS cells that are multi-role cells.
They are going to have large phased arrays...the size we wanted for the DBR and AMDR initially.
The Chinese are coming along with their development capability, and they are launching vessels like crazy still. They have caught up a LOT over the last ten years.
This vessel has either just started building or is abou8t to. They will probably build 8-12 of them, and the vessels vessel will probably displace something between 12,000 and 14,000 tons.
But...it is not the largest Warship in Asia. The Chinese carrier, the Japanese DDHs, and several others are larger.
If will be the largest surface combatant in terms of a cruiser or destroyer, although the South Korean Se Jong the Great class AEGIS DDGs are at or over 12,000 tons displacement and better armed. The Atago class AEGIS DDGs in Japan are also well over 10,000 tons and as well armed.
