That stuff already goes on in some of our “immigrant” communities. Mara Salvatrucha has been here for years, and assimilation isn’t what they’re here for.

getting married and coupled to seek protection from gang violence and intimation from gangs... Intimation? Are the gangs making suggestions that folks get married? Are the gangs initiating marriages?
Maybe a different word was meant here...
