To me, what it says is that they all know something catastrophic is about to happen, so they no longer need to pretend.
No American has any friend in Washington DC.
They are the enemies of us all.

I tend to agree. We’ll all wake up one morning, something will have happened or become readily apparent, and all these a-holes in DC will say “do you understand now? This is why we had to keep you in the dark. See! See! We really aren’t THAT bad....”
That is a pretty scary response.
