I think the two cons would have offed the woman instead of whacking the husband. Figure they have her car, they make her withdraw a bunch of cash from the ATM, kill her and put her body in the trunk.

They're out of the state before anybody notices they're gone, and very far away before husband reports Joyce as missing.

Who the hell cares about Joyce Mitchell? Since these guys are still outstanding, what about the likelihood of an entire family somewhere being held hostage at this very moment?

Of course they'll be raped and then killed after these guys lay low for a while before deciding to take their car and life savings with them.
