The mainstream media (MSM) are hailing the release of recent polls purporting to show “progressive” perspectives on several social issues -- i.e., same-sex marriage, homosexuality, legalization of marijuana, even abortion -- either equaling or, in some cases outstripping, more “traditional” viewpoints. A Gallup poll released on May 22nd, for example, was headlined “On Social Ideology, the Left Catches Up to the Right.”
Never mind that other Gallup polls, such as one released on June 2nd, or one put out on June 4th, provide cautionary findings. The MSM aren’t interested unless “the news” can be spun leftward.
This essay explores two questions. First, if “progressive” orientations on social issues are waxing, while “traditional” views are waning, what seems responsible? Second, and more important, what interpretation should we give to polls purporting to tap “opinions” about social issues?
It doesn’t take much speculation to uncover the reason(s) for allegedly increasing “progressive” perspectives on social questions among the American public. For decades, those perspectives have been fed to Americans by the MSM, Hollywood, and Academe. Since Democrat elites have shifted leftward in recent years, people who ape their orientation will also drift toward “progressive” opinions on a host of issues. An exegesis of the left-leaning orientations of the MSM, Hollywood, Academe, and key left-wing Democrat pols would serve no useful purpose, because the American Thinker’s readers are all too familiar with the story.

Hate to show my age, but I can remember when marriage between a man and woman was not considered all that radical of an action. Oh well “progress” ya know.
More contrived “news” to push a false narrative.
Traditionalists are getting old and dying off. This younger generation is militantly Libertarian.
I don’t think it’s an all or nothing thing. Likely moving to the left in some social issues and moving to the right on other social issues.
Sure, on some issues.
But what do you expect to happen when you have endless streams of propaganda from Hollywood and New York, dumbing down the population?
How did we get to a point at which believing marriage is a man and a woman gets you targeted as a bigot???
Less than 20 years ago, the Defense of Marriage Act passed with overwhelming support from liberals. Go back and check the vote on that bill, and people would be surprised at the liberals who voted for that law. Yet with the left’s ever shifting criteria, those people are not condemned for voting for that law. Bill Clinton is not condemned for signing that law.
We live in a politically correct world now. You can’t just have an opposing point of view on some issue. Instead, the liberals have decreed that you are hateful and bigoted and evil.
Consider the left’s reactions on some issues :
1. If you oppose homosexual marriage, you hate homosexuals.
2. If you oppose illegal alien amnesty, you are xenophobic and hate all immigrants and do not appreciate our history as a nation of immigrants.
3. If you oppose affirmative action, you are racist.
4. If you oppose abortion on demand, you hate women. And in fact you want to see women impaled on coat hangars rather than undergo abortion in a “safe” planned parenthood facility.
5. IF you oppose global warming, you hate a clean environment. You are against scientific research and science in general. In fact, you are in favor of dirty air and dirty water. You want people to die in the more powerful hurricanes which will result from global warming. You want to see our coastal cities flooded out.
I’m sure there are other examples too. But we see there is a totalitarian mindset on the left as they put forth their decrees and opinions on the issues.
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
They don't even comprehend the word. They are faddish, as in driven by current fads, which are themselves driven by the "cool" people in movies and television and the high society social circles.
Currently all the "beautiful people" are now supporting homosexual stuff, and so the impressionable heads full of mush are simply sucking up and regurgitating all the propaganda these people produce.
All media and “polls” are for perceptions only. They are never about the Truth-—it is about controlling the proper emotions of the useful idiots and force others to give up.
We need to take back the culture——and the minds of children from their “group think” factories-—the Prussian system which created the Hitler Youth.
We need Classical Education—the Bible brought back so that there is the ability to “think” and have the “worldview” which created the minds of Washington and Jefferson and Adam Smith.
We are truncating minds with artificial screens which program ideas for mass conformity-— where the mind is prevented from integration and forming neurons and being creative (it is being confined—forced into a small box)——just TRUNCATED which creates mass conformity-—no “thinking” outside the box.
America was formed by individualism-—the ability to think outside the box—and HATE mass conformity which is emotional “thinking” only....Debate of all ideas takes maturity and Wisdom (Classical Education) which was erased from the minds of today’s children. We have erased the ability to Transmit our culture/religion by banning it in the schools which marginalize and demean those ideas. All other faiths—like Atheism/Satanism, paganism are allowed to be forced into the minds of our children since only Christianity is banned-—the only historical, rational faith which created the Age of Reason and the USA. Why-—they want DUMB tribal minds unable to use critical thinking skills-—the basis of the Christian religion which led to the mind of Newton..
TV and Public Schools are creating Group Thinkers-—MASS CONFORMITY and idiots-—exactly like they had in Nazi Germany-——NON THINKING (non) human beings. People devoid of Truth, devoid of God and the Christian Worldview. As Pastor Bonhoeffer remarked-—they had a religionless Christianity which destroyed the children by massive brainwashing.
We have had the same thing here but our Culture wasn’t as toxic as the homosexual-promoting (irrational) Weimar Republic. Now, our culture since “After the Ball” has been exactly like the Weimar Republic which is toxic and promotes Vice 24/7 and instant gratification-—Hyper sexualization of children to corrupt and destroy Virtue formation.
Without Virtue, there is no Freedom. Civil Society collapses.

I guess no one in the MSM ‘community’ has access to a map of the world, where they can see the MANY failed, unstable, poor, violent, backward, disease-ridden countries where these ‘progressive perspectives’ are in place.
Rush pointed out that the left is not only trying to normalize the perverse,

Media. Liberal totalitarians control everything the public gets to see and hear now, and they have been exerting their power.
They make "gay" propaganda disguised as entertainment, and inject it into the nation's conscious streams.
The nation has slowly responded to these constant nudging impulses from the Liberal propaganda agents.
"dumbing down the populations", not only that is true, but also true that a lot are just sick and tired of hearing all their never ending nagging complaints, they/we just give in to make it go away (which it never does as their is just one more social issue to discuss.
I do not care how far “left” the general public goes in accepting deviance. For example, it will always be contrary to God, nature, and human decency for a man to deposit his seed in the rectal cavity of another man, and for people of the same sex to enter into “marriage” as if they are doing as God intended from the beginning. It all comes down to sin. Like all sin, it leads to death and is to be repented of, NOT to be embraced and made “cool” out of a false love.
If accepting these practices is what it takes to be “cool,” the world can have it. Not me. As for those who are trapped by their own lusts into practicing such deviance, I have not been commanded to love their behavior, but to love them in spite of it. This I can only do by the grace of God, the same God Who is both Almighty and merciful, yet Who does not mince words when it comes to deviant behavior and its consequences, starting with my own.
For now, until REALITY begins to BITT them BIGTIME.
In reality, folks are conservative but keep being conservative quiet out of out FEAR.
