I seem to recall that there was a time when ladies would store broken glass in an area considered private and open to friends only.

Would imagine a pretty decent defensive weapon would be for a woman to have some sort of guillotine attached to her upper body to welcome ‘unwelcomed’ intruders.

Course the courts would probably say she had put to much thought into prospective intruders.

Right after I hit send I remembered where I had heard such an outlandish plan.

During the crusades The King went off to battle but didn’t ‘trust’ the queen so he rigged her ‘C Belt’ to capture ‘friends’ of queenie.

When said King returned he had all the Palace Guard drop trou and lo and behold, only Ivanhoe had all his body parts in tact.

King ordered the execution of the Guards and was congratulating IVEY and said “Congratulations! You are now Chief Guard”. The tonguless Ivanhoe just ‘mumbled’ a few unintelligible words.

King decided it was cheaper and less stressful to ‘neuter’ the future Palace Guards.

... ladies would store broken glass in an area considered private....

Care to elaborate on how a woman could “store” the broken lass without injuring herself in the process? Methinks thou hast read too many silly novels.
