He was born in May of 1990, she was born in October of 1990. The pregnancy was announced in August and she was five months pregnant. They were both seventeen, drunk, and stupid. At any rate statutory rape in Alaska is one over 18 with another 16 or younger.

So what exactly would you like the then 17 year old charged with?

Especially since the whole family actually talked him up and took him on the campaign trail.

If you wanted to charge the adults with not knowing where their children were when the kids were out drinking and having sex, all underage, at least that makes a tiny bit of sense.

Otherwise, two seventeen year olds drinking and partying are each equally irresponsible.

Though, he’s married and has a family now, whereas she’s perpetually breaking off engagements. She’s had three more since the first. If anything, on the surface, he’s the more responsible of the two.

In my state one party has to be under 18 and we support lots of babies from resultant pregnancies. The father never pays but proceeds to have more children. If not statutory rape or date rape, they should have made him pay child support. If public figures don’t make fathers of their illegit grandchildren take responsibility, the average citizen will not either. It is a way of life and the Palin family set a poor example. Needless to say, it did not help her credibility during the campaign. It becomes difficult to have respect for any of them.
