Let's see how churches will react. Gays might be able to get a civil marriage, but that does not mean that that sham marriage must be performed by a church. I wonder what if any denominations will stand fast and say we do not perform gay marriage in our church? Could this mean that the government will force churches to perform same sex marriages?

For Catholics will the sacrament of marriage now be openly offered to same sex couples? Too bad the pope is spending his time worshipping at the altar of climate change instead of defending marriage.

Yet.

Within months, they’ll demand it. (If the minister signs a marriage license, then it is a public act, remember)

And the courts will force it upon churches. Just watch.

It wouldn’t surprise me if some dissenting priests or deacons sign marriage licenses. It wouldn’t surprise me if some limp wristed bishop refuses to discipline said clergymen. It wouldn’t surprise me if the current Vatican ignores the situation (witness how they react to specific examples of pro abortion politicians receiving communion).

But, no, it won’t ever be recognized as a valid sacrament.

The church I am still technically a member of on paper has been behind gay marriage for years. Haven’t shown up in a decade, still no plans to.

The churches can refuse to do “official marriages”...ie act as agent of the state. The can still do religious ceremonies for those heteros who have their “paper” from the state!(wisdom of serpents but as harmless as doves). A gay couple comes to church for a wedding....”Uh sorry we don’t marry anyone officially here, can’t serve as official witness and can’t sign off and issue marriage licenses!)
