Putin, despite any for-public-consumption BS, knows full well he has a loyal comrade in president Obama. With his help Russia has a great opportunity to regain much of the strength it lost over the past several decades.

Putin made a simple statement that even you can’t deny is true. It’s all of America’s responsibility that this has happened to us because we let it. That Putin has spoken truth is just an insult that some can’t take. Worse despots than Putin will be attacking us because they smell our blood in the water. Where/how did you come to a conclusion that I was a Putinista? I don’t have to kowtow to your flames or persons with any such crass behavior or expressions. I served overseas in WWII and my brother was killed on Okinawa so there would be among other matters free expression in the US. Perhaps you are not keeping up with the news. The Soviet Union folded, and the Russian people are trying to implement Democracy and capitalism. That transition has been very difficult for them since they have lived at the hands of dictators for hundreds of years.
Putin is a moderate, and was instrumental in the fall of the Soviet Union. He is a rough and tumble man as evidenced by his history with the KGB. Recall that Herbert Bush was the head of the CIA, also not not known as being a "love and kisses" organization. I have ongoing conversations with recent Russian emigrants who view Putin in favorable light, given certain reservations regarding any Russian leader.
The photos you showed are related to celebrations of WWII heroes, living and dead. How do you come down on the idea of celebrating Southern Civil War heroes under the Confederate flag? I suspect Putin would lose favor quickly with the people of his nation if he failed to pay homage to the heroes of that terrible war. Russians are not fond of Stalin, but they do know his historical significance.
You need to let go of the old Cold War and try to give Russians a chance. I certainly would keep one eye open while dealing with them.
My Patriotism or loyalty to my Nation is not at question here. We are talking about moving carefully into a new chapter of this stupid planet.

I've reluctantly come to accept, after repeatedly being forced to accept, that in this Kabuki Theatre we call American politics these days, both the demonrats and the republicans come from the same barrel.

I think the demonrats and the republicans both are progressives and together they have progressed this country beyond anything I might think, feel or believe about Putin.

Whatever Putin may or may not be, Russia is, as of now, officially more Biblically righteous and a "nation under God" than we are now that we're fabulously out of the closet with Pride.
As far as I'm concerned, if Putin's saying so adds an additional sting, then that's all the better.
