It's hard to tell. The FBI keeps track of all violent crimes but classifies offenders by race; white, black, Native American, or Asian. Hispanic, an ethnicity, typically gets dumped into the "white" category, skewing up the white crime rate.
Drew, I do the UCRs for my department. I can tell you that anyone that tells you that they know what the crime rate is the United States, in fact, doesn’t.
A third of all police departments in the US do not report their crime stats to the FBI, nor is it even mandatory, UNLESS you participate in Federal grant programs.
Otherwise, you don’t have to do diddley for the DOJ.
You can also be classified as a white OR black Hispanic.
